Chief Quality and Safety Officer

Mary Anna Sullivan, MD, is chief quality and safety officer of Lahey Clinic, a nonprofit, multispecialty health care organization based in Burlington, Mass. In her role, Dr. Sullivan has oversight for quality and safety programs, including patient safety, environment of care and performance improvement. She will partner with the vice president of quality and safety to serve as the clinical conscience of the organization and help ensure that Lahey is providing the highest quality and safest care possible.
In addition to these duties, Dr. Sullivan also serves as chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine. In addition, she currently serves as the CMO for Lahey Clinic Medical Center, North Shore in Peabody, Mass.
A clinical assistant professor at Tufts University School of Medicine, Dr. Sullivan serves as a psychiatrist at Lahey Clinic specializing in consultation-liaison psychiatry as well as psychiatry in primary care.
A graduate of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, Dr. Sullivan is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and was chief resident in psychiatry at Brigham and Women’s Hospital from 1984-85, joining Lahey in 1986.
