• Peter K. Dempsey, MD

    Bio

Peter K. Dempsey, MD, received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Tufts University. He then completed a neurosurgical residency at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. During his training, he also completed a six-month fellowship in stereotactic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. He has been practicing in the Department of Neurosurgery at Lahey Clinic for 20 years. He is vice-chairman of the Neurosurgery Department as well as the co-director of the Brain Tumor Clinic. His interests in neurosurgery include treatment of patients with brain tumors, stereotactic radiosurgery as well as image-guided applications in the operating room.

Dr. Dempsey is an assistant clinical professor of neurosurgery at Tufts University School of Medicine. He is a member of a number of medical societies and organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Health Information Management Systems Society and past president of the New England Neurosurgical Society. Since 2006, he has served as physician leader of Lahey’s Clinical Informatics Committee, helping to develop an enterprise-wide clinical informatics system and electronic medical records for Lahey’s two acute-care medical centers and primary care practices.
