Lahey/McGill Simulation Fellowship and Master’s of Surgical Education.
Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington Massachusetts and McGill University in Montreal have established a one or two-year combined Simulation Fellowship in Health Professions Education with a Master’s Degree in Education. The goal of this fellowship is to create leaders in medical and surgical education who are particularly interested in the use of simulation training to maximize student learning and help achieve institutional educational, patient safety and quality goals. Graduates of the Fellowship Program will obtain the skills necessary to lead graduate and postgraduate medical, nursing and allied health programs as well as conduct research to advance the field of medical education through simulation. The two year fellowship will include a Master’s of Experimental Surgery, Surgical Education Concentration at McGill University in Montreal and a 1 year experiential learning program at Lahey Hospital Medical Center in Burlington, Massachusetts. Ideal candidates will be Canadian surgery or anesthesia residents interested in an academic medical career with emphasis on educational program development and research. We will accept applicants that have completed at least two years of residency.
Applications are due January 1, 2019 for a fellowship beginning July 1, 2019.
Applicants must provide a personal statement no longer than one page outlining their interest in the program. They must also furnish their curriculum vitae and supporting letters from their program director. The fellowship stipend will include a 1 year salary commensurate with PGY level to be used during the year working at Lahey. The stipend will also include tuition for the master’s degree at McGill.

Our simulation center is an Accredited Level 1 Education Institute of the American College of Surgeons where we train thousands of learners each year. Lahey is a major teaching affiliate of Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. In addition to medical and nursing students, the hospital’s Graduate Medical Education programs train more than 130 residents and fellows every year.
