How to Apply - Diagnostic Radiology Residency
Applicants must apply through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP), and all information should be submitted through Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Please refer to the Lahey Clinic Residency and Fellowship section for further application information.
Requirements to be considered for interview include:
1. Three Letters of Recommendation
2. USMLE Boards scores (Step 1 required)
3. Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE- aka, Dean’s Letters)
5. Personal Statement
We do not have a cut-off for USMLE board scores. All applications are reviewed in their entirety in order to get a well-rounded view of each applicant.
We do accept international graduates, and are willing to support a J-1 visa from the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, provided you have a valid ECFMG certificate.
The cutoff for applications is November 1st, and we will begin sending out interview applications in the middle of October. We typically wait for the entire application to be submitted, including Medical School Performance Evaluations (MSPE's, or Dean’s Letters), which traditionally are now being sent in the beginning of October.
Interviewees are requested to come to the Main Lobby on the 4th Floor by 8:30 AM. One of our residents will greet you and bring you to be registered in Security prior to the rest of the interview day. Dr. Scheirey, the program director, will meet with all of the applicants as a group at 9:00 am, and give an informal overview of the Clinic, the department, and the program. After the introduction, all applicants will interview with selected members of the interview committee, and all with have individual interviews with Dr. Scheirey. Each interview lasts 15- 20 minutes. If there is time between interviews, you will have the opportunity to sit and talk with one of our residents to gain their insight into the program.
After all interviews have finished, one of our residents will give the applicants a tour of the department, followed by lunch during noon conference (12-1:30). Although during most of the year the second half of conferences are primarily case-based reviews, on interview days we set aside time for the applicants to meet with our residents – usually lasting until 1:30 or 2:00 pm. This will conclude the interview day.
