Effects of Subthalamic Nucleus Stimulation on Striatal Dopaminergic Transmission in Patients with Parkinsons Disease [LCID Study Number: 2012-070] Purpose: The effectiveness of DaTscan™ for monitoring disease progression or response to therapy, such as DBS, has not yet been established. We want to look at this dopamine activity with DaTscan before and after your DBS surgery to see if, what, changes occur in the brain.
