On February 2, 2009, Lahey Hospital & Medical Center submitted documentation to the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as part of the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center Journey to Excellence.
On March 18, Kathie Jose, MSN, RN, senior vice president and chief nursing officer, received notice from the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program, that our Magnet document submission was accepted unconditionally. Jose was able to announce the good news to the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Leadership Council that was meeting at the time.
Our 2200 page Magnet document was rated in the high excellence range, which enabled Lahey Hospital & Medical Center to qualify for a site visit. Only 20 percent of Magnet applicants nationwide go directly to site visit.
The Magnet Recognition Program appraisers conducted their site visit on June 1-4, 2009. The site visit included both the Burlington and the Peabody campuses.
