How You Can Help
Giving to Cancer Care at Lahey
Recently, Lahey announced plans for a $135 million expansion project that will include the addition of the Sophia Gordon Cancer Center to ensure that Lahey can continue to offer world-class care to the growing number of cancer patients. Through the philanthropic generosity of people like you, our vision is to better the future of medicine through advanced research and technologies that, ultimately, lead to a cancer cure.
Why Give to Cancer Care at Lahey?
Cancer and cardiac care remain the two services in highest demand at Lahey Clinic. We are recognized nationally for our exceptional patient outcomes in these areas and our commitment to research that will benefit future generations.
In 2005, the Committee on Approvals of the Commission on Cancer, a body governed by the American College of Surgeons (ACOS), granted three-year approval to Lahey Clinic's cancer programs. Approval is given only to those facilities committed to providing the best in diagnosis and treatment of cancer, based on a rigorous evaluation process and a review of performance. According to the ACOS, while only 25 percent of hospitals have cancer programs approved by the Commission on Cancer, 82 percent of cancer patients are diagnosed and treated at facilities that have approval status.
