Face

Brow/forehead lift

This surgical procedure eliminates a heaviness or overhanging of the brow. It addresses brow position and allows the upper portion of the face to have a more open and rested appearance. A brow/forehead lift can be performed in conjunction with eyelid surgery.

Cheek augmentation

This surgical procedure was originally used for reconstructive purposes to help reverse the effects of birth defects and trauma-related injuries, but it is commonly used today for cosmetic purposes, as well. The goal of surgery is to improve the appearance and prominence of the patient's cheeks by bringing them into balance with the rest of the face. The procedure involves the use of implants, typically made of hard silicone, to achieve this objective.

Cheek augmentation surgery is typically performed under local anesthesia and takes about one to one and one half hours to complete. Depending on the surgeon's choice of incision site, scarring for the procedure ranges from none to minimal. Bruising and swelling are normal in the weeks following surgery, with the final results from surgery typically being visible by seven months post-op.

Chin augmentation

When the shape of your facial profile is off-balance due to the presence of a weak or receding chin, chin augmentation may be a viable option to help restore facial symmetry. Depending on the degree of surgery required to restore facial harmony, this procedure will involve one of two techniques:

  • For significant augmentation: The desired facial profile is achieved by moving forward a portion of the chin bone to reshape the chin and enhance its size.
  • For mild to moderate augmentation: Inserting a prosthetic implant-made of silicone, Teflon or Dacron-allows for adequate reshaping of the chin when only modest augmentation is needed to achieve facial symmetry.

Chin augmentation surgery is typically performed under local anesthesia and takes about one to one and one half hours to complete. Depending on the surgeon's choice of incision site, scarring for the procedure ranges from none to minimal. Bruising and swelling can be expected for about two weeks following chin augmentation surgery, though results should be immediately noticeable.

Ear reconstruction (otoplasty)

This procedure is performed to correct excessive prominence of the ears.

Eyelid lift (blepharoplasty)

The eyes show the signs of aging more than any other facial feature. A blepharoplasty, or eyelid lift, is designed for those who feel they have a tired or sad eye appearance that makes them look older than they feel. This procedure removes drooping skin from the upper eyelids and minimizes bags of the lower lids by removing excess fat and tissue, leaving your eyes with a more rested and alert appearance.

Facelift (rhytidectomy)

A rhytidectomy, or facelift, is a surgical procedure that can smooth loose skin of the face and neck by tightening underlying tissue. This procedure rejuvenates the face by restoring a more youthful neck and jaw line. Facelifts are performed in the operating room under anesthesia.

Neck lift

If you've lost a significant amount of weight, you may have excess fat and skin on your neck that you can't do anything about. Or, if weakened or loose neck muscles are in your genes and result in the appearance of bands on your neck, you may be a good candidate for neck lift surgery.

Neck lift surgery involves a combination of procedures to improve the appearance of your neck, including:

  • Cervicoplasty (used to remove excess skin),
  • Platysmaplasty (used to remove and/or alter neck muscles),
  • Neck liposuction (used to remove excess fat), and/or
  • Botox injections (used to relax the neck muscles responsible for the appearance of "bands" of skin).

The amount of time required for neck lift surgery is dependent upon each patient's unique set of circumstances and his/her desired surgical results, but it typically averages about two to three hours. Bruising and swelling, as well as tightness and pulling in the neck, can be expected for several weeks following surgery.

Nose reshaping (rhinoplasty)

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that manipulates the underlying structures of the nose to change its external appearance. The procedure can increase or reduce the size of the nose, or change the shape of the tip and bridge. Rhinoplasty may be used to help correct breathing problems.
