The Lahey Institute for Cosmetic Surgery provides laser services to treat a variety of conditions, including:
Brown spots on the face
Fine wrinkling
Leg veins
Port wine stains
Red spots (cherry spots) on the nose
Small blood vessels on the cheeks, forehead and nose
Spider veins
Our lasers can also be used for skin resurfacing and the removal of hair and tattoos. We use the most technologically advanced lasers available today. In addition, because patient safety is our first consideration, all laser procedures are performed either by a physician or a nurse under a physician's direction.
Hair removal
We use a light sheer diode laser, one of the best FDA-approved lasers, for permanent hair removal. This laser is safe, effective, creates minimal discomfort and requires little recovery time. Only brown and black hairs can be treated. Multiple treatments are typically needed to achieve desired results.
Fraxel® Laser Treatment
Fraxel Laser Treatment is a new approach to treating aging and sun-damaged skin. It decreases fine lines and wrinkles, age and sunspots, acne and surgical scarring, and melasma. It also improves tone, texture and color of the skin. Fraxel can treat the full face, neck, chest and hands and recovery time is minimal.
MicroLaserPeel™
While MicroPeel®, microdermabrasion, and the topical application of Retin-A are often excellent options for freshening aging skin and removing pigmentation and fine wrinkles, many patients have significant sun damage and deeper wrinkles that cannot be corrected by these more minor procedures. MicroLaserPeelTM is a new, extremely effective, facial rejuvenation (anti-aging) procedure that goes deeper into the skin, and, yet, requires only minimal downtime for patients.
Using the Erbium laser (a cool laser), MicroLaserPeel removes superficial dead skin cells, along with any pigment and fine wrinkles. And, most importantly, it stimulates new collagen production in the inner layer of the skin. Since the loss of collagen is what causes wrinkles in the first place, the new collagen production initiated by the MicroLaser Peel gradually helps reduce wrinkling. This procedure also provides patients with a practical alternative to laser resurfacing treatment, because it is performed a cool laser that minimizes the facial redness and downtime typically associated with full face laser resurfacing.
VbeamTM laser
Physicians worldwide consider the VbeamTM laser system the "gold standard" for the treatment of a wide variety of vascular skin conditions. VbeamTM laser therapy is gentle enough for use on infants as young as a few weeks old, yet powerful enough to treat most adult skin problems.
The VbeamTM laser system is less painful for the patient than other vascular laser systems because it features an exclusive technology known as DCDTM, or Dynamic Cooling Device, which sprays a liquid onto the skin before each laser pulse. This allows for cooling of the upper layers of skin, thus decreasing patients' discomfort.
The VbeamTM laser system, available at Lahey's Burlington location, can be used to treat a wide variety of vascular lesions, including:
Telangiectasias: spider veins or broken blood vessels on the face or legs
Rosacea (red face): a blush or sunburned appearance of the skin around the nose, chin and cheeks
Angiomas: small, red spots that may be slightly raised or just beneath the surface of the skin
Port wine stain birthmarks: vascular lesions that grow rapidly after birth and may impair the function of another organ
Warts: small, benign growths in the skin that usually appear on the hands or feet
Scars: red, raised scars that are often caused by surgery, trauma or burns
Red stretch marks: frequently appearing after pregnancy over the stomach, thighs, buttocks, and lower back
Versapulse laser
The Versapulse laser is a multi-wavelength laser used to treat a variety of conditions, including birthmarks, brown spots, facial veins, port wine stains, rosacea, spider veins, and vascular lesions. It is also used in tattoo removal. The Versapulse laser is gentle, resulting in only minimal discomfort and recovery time for the patient.
