Nonsurgical Procedures

Cosmetic dermatologists Mollie MacCormack, MD, and Emily J. Fisher, MD, have expertise in a wide array of skin rejuvenation techniques.

Botox® injections

Botox is a successful way to treat frown lines, crows feet and forehead lines without surgical intervention. Injecting Botox into specific muscle groups that cause wrinkles inhibits the muscles from working, leaving the skin smooth and youthful. Furthermore, by suppressing the muscles, fewer new wrinkles are formed. This is a safe procedure with no recovery time. Results take three days to take effect and typically last four to six months.

Injectable fillers (e.g. collagen, Juvéderm™, Radiesse®, Restylane®)

Fillers are a very popular and widely accepted therapy used to correct deep lines in the face. They serve as a camouflage and are useful for patients who have deep folds or lines, but who do not want to undergo facelift surgery. For these patients, various fillers can be injected underneath the skin to "plump up" deep lines. Lines typically treated with fillers include those along the nasolabial fold lines, which run from the corner of the nose down to the corner of the mouth; and the marionette lines, which run from the corner of the mouth down to the chin. Fillers can also be used to give the lips a fuller, more youthful contour.

Traditionally, collagen was the most widely used filler, but there are now a number of other highly effective fillers available. One group of fillers, composed of hyaluronic acid, include Restylane® and Hylaform, and last about six to nine months. Another group that includes fillers made of synthetic compounds such as Radiesse®, Sculptra® and Pearlane® last somewhat longer-approximately one year.

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a procedure that treats leg veins by injecting a solution into the affected vessels. Sclerotherapy is a safe and effective treatment option for patients who qualify. This procedure cannot treat varicose veins. A consultation prior to sclerotherapy is necessary to determine if it is the most appropriate option for you.

Thermage®

Thermage® tightens and contours the skin, with improvements in tone, contour and texture occurring naturally through the stimulation of your own collagen. It is completely noninvasive-no surgery, no injections. A single treatment tightens your existing collagen and stimulates new collagen growth. There is no downtime, so patients can quickly resume their normal routine.
