Diabetes Support Group
Lahey's diabetic support group provides encouragement, understanding, information and mutual support for people living with diabetes. Each person's experience with diabetes is unique, so sharing and listening to others can give a person new ideas and improve his or her outlook about a future with diabetes. Members of our group are often coaches for others struggling with a new diagnosis or those with "burnout" from too many years with the disease. Much is changing in the care of diabetes including medications, meters and even food choices, and it is important to stay as up-to-date as possible. Members voluntarily bring news from magazines, newspapers and other resources to share. A social worker, dietitian and certified diabetes educator attend and facilitate each meeting.
The diabetes support group meets the first Tuesday of each month, from 1 pm to 2 pm in the Six Central Conference Room (6-601) at 41 Mall Road in Burlington. An additional support group meets the first Wednesday of each month from noon to 1 pm in the fourth-floor conference room at Lahey Clinic Medical Center, North Shore, One Essex Center Drive in Peabody.
All are welcome. To register for a support group, please contact facilitator Annmarie Brady, LICSW, at 781-744-3134.
