Endoscopy Unit Homepage


The Endoscopy Unit provides comprehensive gastrointestinal endoscopy services - the use of flexible fiberoptics for direct visual, as well as digitally enhanced, examination of internal organs - on an outpatient basis.

In addition to the usual diagnostic upper endoscopy examination (flexible sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy) specialized procedures performed in the Endoscopy Unit include:

  • polypectomy
  • dilation of esophageal strictures
  • pneumatic bag dilation for achalasia
  • esophageal prosthetic tube placement
  • injection sclerotherapy for esophageal varices
  • electrocoagulation for gastrointestinal bleeding
  • percutaneous endoscopic gastrotomy (PEG) feeding tube
  • endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)
  • diagnostic retrograde pancreatic cholangiography (ERCP)
  • endoscopic sphincterotomy
  • stone extraction
  • biliary stent placement
  • biliary stricture dilation
  • percutaneous choledochoscopy
