- Sports medicine
- Joint replacement

|
- Foot and ankle surgery
- Shoulder / elbow surgery
- Trauma / fractures
|
In 2005, our orthopaedic surgeons saw more than 65,000 patients and performed more than 5,000 orthopaedic operations, including hip replacement, knee replacement, arthroscopy of the hip, knee and shoulder, and hand operations. We provided care in our three outpatient clinics in northeastern Massachusetts: Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, Lahey Clinic Medical Center, North Shore, in Peabody; and Lahey Lexington.
Lahey's orthopaedics practice is enhanced by collaboration with physician assistants, nurse practitioners, podiatrists, and physical and occupational therapists who provide essential services as we treat both routine and complex bone and joint disorders.
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is committed to embracing emerging technologies that are being developed through innovative scientific research. We are diligent, however, about balancing enthusiasm for "new" or "improved" surgical procedures with a strict adherence to time-tested principles that demand responsibility for successful patient outcomes and patient
safety.
Our department has established an excellent local reputation, providing orthopaedic residents from Boston University School of Medicine with the teaching and training they need to become successful orthopaedic surgeons of tomorrow.
The department also has a well-established national reputation that has been developed through clinical research and numerous scientific presentations at educational meetings throughout the world.
