Lahey Clinic offers a comprehensive program of care for diseases and conditions of the external, middle and inner ear, including the auditory, vestibular and facial nerves. Our specialists treat problems ranging from the common (ear infections, earaches, impacted earwax, swimmer's ear) to the highly specialized (performing precise and delicate surgery on the stapes, one of the tiny bones in the middle ear, for example, or removing tumors from the inner ear nerves, as in acoustic neuroma).
For surgical procedures undertaken to address auditory response problems, we provide state-of-the-art intra-operative neurophysiologic monitoring; that is, we have the tools to monitor the tiniest neurological activity during surgery, enabling us to track auditory responses as the procedure progresses. This technology includes auditory brain stem testing and facial nerve electromyography (a test that measures muscle response to nerve stimulation). For patients, this capability ensures the best possible outcome.
Our team of specialists also includes audiologists who can assess and treat nonsurgical hearing and balance problems.
