Pre-Procedure Information: Local Anesthetics
- You may eat and drink prior to your procedure. However, we recommend that you have a light meal.
- Do not take aspirin for seven days prior to the procedure.
- Discontinue any blood-thinning medications (e.g., Coumadin, Plavix, Pletal, Aggrenox, etc.) five days prior to the procedure. On the day of the procedure, we will perform a blood test called PT/INR to ensure that you have adequate blood clotting abilities.
- Do not take any anti-inflammatories (e.g., ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, Lodine, Naprosyn, Relafen, etc.) for two days prior to the procedure.
- If you have not heard from Lahey's Admissions Department by the day of your procedure, please stop there first (4 West) before reporting to Ambulatory Surgery.
- Report to Ambulatory Surgery (2 West) and sign in.
- Please arrange for a ride home following the procedure.
