Pre-Procedure Information: Local Anesthetics

  1. You may eat and drink prior to your procedure. However, we recommend that you have a light meal.

  2. Do not take aspirin for seven days prior to the procedure.

  3. Discontinue any blood-thinning medications (e.g., Coumadin, Plavix, Pletal, Aggrenox, etc.) five days prior to the procedure. On the day of the procedure, we will perform a blood test called PT/INR to ensure that you have adequate blood clotting abilities.

  4. Do not take any anti-inflammatories (e.g., ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, Lodine, Naprosyn, Relafen, etc.) for two days prior to the procedure.

  5. If you have not heard from Lahey's Admissions Department by the day of your procedure, please stop there first (4 West) before reporting to Ambulatory Surgery.

  6. Report to Ambulatory Surgery (2 West) and sign in.

  7. Please arrange for a ride home following the procedure.
