Referring Physicians

Daniel McQuillen, MD, vice chair, Center for Infectious Diseases and Prevention, listens to a patient's lungs during an outpatient consult. If you are a physician wishing to refer a patient to the Travel and Tropical Medicine Clinic, please call us directly at 781-744-8860, or call our Physician Referral line at 781-744-8899 or toll free at 800-962-1700.

Patients

To schedule an appointment with the Travel and Tropical Medicine Clinic, please call 781-744-8860. Appointments are available weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm.

To be sure which Travel Clinic services will be covered by your insurance, please check with your carrier. Health maintenance organization (HMO) members will need a referral from their primary care physician prior to consultation at the Travel Clinic.

Although we suggest you contact us well in advance of your trip, same-day visits can be arranged, if necessary. If time permits, appointments should be scheduled two to three weeks before your departure. Trekkers and bicyclists traveling to developing countries may wish to schedule their visits four weeks before departure, in case they need to receive a rabies vaccine.

An appointment at the Travel and Tropical Medicine Clinic generally takes about one hour, including reviews of your medical history and travel plans and a limited examination to determine which vaccines are appropriate for you.
