Magazine also ranked Lahey Clinic’s Urology Department among the best in America
July 17, 2012 - Lahey Clinic has been ranked sixth in the Boston area and seventh in Massachusetts in U.S News and World Report’s 2012-2013 Best Hospitals Survey. This year’s Best Hospitals Survey, the 23rd annual edition, showcases more than 720 of the nation’s approximately 5,000 hospitals.
The magazine honored Lahey as a best hospital in the United States for Urology care. This is the 15th time in 20 years that Lahey Clinic’s urology care has been recognized as among the best in the nation.
U.S. News also ranked Lahey Clinic as “high performing” in the following ten specialties: cancer; diabetes & endocrinology; ear, nose & throat; gastroenterology; geriatrics; gynecology; nephrology; neurology & neurosurgery; orthopaedics; and pulmonology.
“These ranking are like a GPS-type aid to help steer patients to hospitals with strong skills in the procedures and medical conditions that present the biggest challenges. All of these hospitals are the kinds of medical centers that should be on your list when you need the best care,” said U.S. News Health Rankings Editor Avery Comarow.
The rankings were published by U.S. News in collaboration with RTI International, a research organization based in Research Triangle Park, N.C. Highlights from the 2012-13 rankings will appear in the U.S. News Best Hospitals 2013 guidebook, scheduled to go on sale in August.
