Continuing educational development is supported by an active Nursing Education Department, on-unit nurse educators and on-site educational opportunities. Most programs are awarded contact hours via the Massachusetts Association of Registered Nurses. As part of Lahey's commitment to lifelong learning, all programs are offered free of charge to licensed nurses at Lahey and those who have retired from Lahey. In addition, an extra benefit to our licensed nurses is a pro-rated paid day of continuing education.
Pre-registration is required to participate in our continuing education offerings. To reserve your spot in a current continuing education session, leave a message on our hotline voicemail at 781-744-8708 or call 781-744-8725 or 781-744-8552.

All-Day Education Programs for Nurses
Monthly continuing nursing education programs are intended to provide advanced education on a variety of topics pertinent for nurses working in a variety of practice areas. The topics for the upcoming year are selected from the nursing education survey completed in the summer months. The program schedule runs monthly from September through May. Detailed schedules for each conference are posted as they become available.
These programs are intended for nurses in all areas of practice. There are no prerequisites to attend. Participants may signup to attend the entire day or one or more sessions during the day.
Nursing Grand Rounds
The primary purpose of Nursing Grand Rounds is to present evidence-based information on patient care. In addition, the series will promote professional nursing at Lahey Clinic by presenting our nurses as vital resources and knowledgeable caregivers, sharing their expertise with colleagues. Please see the Notes on Nursing newsletter for program dates.
Education Series for Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAPs)
The Nursing Department of Education is presenting a series of educational offerings for nursing assistants, medical assistants, clinic assistants and unit coordinators. Each presentation is one hour in length and discusses a specific area of patient care.
Pre-registration is required through our hotline at 781-744-8708 or by calling the Nursing Education Department at 781-744-8725.
