The two-year fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism provides extensive inpatient and outpatient experiences, exposing the fellows to all aspects of endocrinology. This fellowship program is ideal for the physician who wishes to practice clinical endocrinology.
We have two endocrine fellows at any one time. The core faculty is committed to providing a well-rounded training experience at the PGY-4 and PGY-5 levels.
Fellows receive training in all aspects of diabetes and its complications. They manage pregnant women with diabetes and are also exposed to other endocrine disorders associated with pregnancy. Our endocrine fellows are actively involved in our insulin pump program. Fellows rotate through the Ophthalmology Department to learn about diabetic eye disorders.
Fellows also gain experience in all other aspects of endocrinology:
Thyroid disorders
Neuroendocrine disorders
Male and female reproductive endocrine disorders
Sexual dysfunction
Metabolic bone disease
Adrenal disorders
Disorders of fluid and electrolytes
Disorders of calcium metabolism
Endocrine emergencies
Lipid disorders
Nutritional disorders
Obesity
We practice a multidisciplinary approach to obesity, which involves endocrinologists, dieticians, psychiatry and behavioral medicine staff, and surgeons who perform bariatric surgery.
