How to Apply


Please refer to specific residency or fellowship program pages for program-specific application instructions. In general, the process is described below:

  • Register with the National Resident Matching Program.
  • Complete the National Resident Matching Program's Universal Application for Residency. (Remember, not all departments use this form. Check the program pages for program-specific application instructions.)
  • Have your dean's letter, transcripts and three letters of recommendation from physicians familiar with your work sent to the program director in the department of your choice.

Attention International Medical School Graduates:
You must qualify for a J-1 visa from the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates and have a valid ECFMG certificate in order to be eligible for graduate medical education training at Lahey Clinic.

Please note: J-1 visas may not be accepted in all cases and are subject to the specific residency or fellowship program. For further information, please refer to the application requirements for the program of interest.

Program Requirements:
New Graduate
Minimum USMLE Score 215
Foreign medical graduates must have at least 3 rotations of US clinical experience with letters of recommendation from those rotations.
