Lahey offers education programs to meet the needs of medical school residents, fellows and others looking for specialized training in urology and surgical care.

Lahey’s Urology Residency program covers every subspecialty of urology, so it gives residents early exposure to advanced urologic cases across different subspecialties. Our urology program allows residents to rotate at hospitals with outpatient clinics and operating rooms under one roof. This allows trainees to participate in outpatient evaluation, operative procedures, postoperative care and hospital follow-up.

The Center for Reconstructive Urologic Surgery offers New England’s only male genitourinary Reconstructive Urologic Surgery Fellowship. We also offer a Urology Advanced Practice Fellowship.

Groundbreaking research at our Center for Reconstructive Urologic Surgery is designed to advance medical techniques and improve patient outcomes.

Prostate Cancer Research

The Lahey Institute of Urology has evaluated The OPKO Diagnostics 4Kscore in predicting the diagnosis of prostate cancer prior to prostate biopsy. This molecular assay may help determine the likelihood that a patient with a prior negative prostate biopsy will be diagnosed with cancer on repeat biopsy. These molecular-based strategies in patient care are designed to benefit patients and help urologists select the right patients for prostate biopsy.

We also collaborate in other clinical trials, such as the study of dietary supplements that hold promise in prostate cancer chemoprevention.

Urologic Oncology Research Laboratory

The Lahey Institute of Urology is privileged to have a Urologic Oncology Research Laboratory. The lab allows for translational research focused on various biologic markers for bladder and prostate cancer. These efforts open the possibility of taking cutting-edge research from the lab to assess and evaluate prognostic markers along with therapeutics for our patients.
