There are no guidelines to reduce the risk of eczema. Some evidence suggests that a child's risk may be lowered by:
- Breastfeeding, or
- Drinking formula that is:
- 100 percent whey protein—partially hydrolyzed
- Made from hydrolyzed cow's milk
- Applying a daily moisturizer—to babies at risk
- Taking probiotics—while pregnant or breastfeeding
Lifestyle treatments may reduce outbreaks in those with eczema.
