Glaucoma cannot be cured. The goal of treatment is to manage the disease and prevent or slow damage. This can be done by lowering pressure inside the eye (intraocular pressure). How much to lower the pressure and how to do it will not be the same in each person.

The treatments used will depend on the type of glaucoma, the underlying cause, and the severity of the disease. Treatment options are:
