Hospital medicine is made up of a group of internal medicine physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners who are focused on caring for patients during their hospital stay. Unlike specialists who focus on one organ or disease, hospitalists care for the whole person. Because they are based in the hospital full-time, they can respond quickly to changes and provide continuous, attentive care.
