Pathology Services
Lahey pathology specialists find and diagnose disease. They analyze cell and tissue samples. Your doctor uses these findings to guide your treatment.
In some cases, this analysis is completed during surgery. After your doctor removes a tissue sample our pathologist studies the cells right away. This analysis helps your doctor make immediate decisions about your care.

Therapeutic Phlebotomy Services
If you have excess iron or too many red blood cells, your doctor may prescribe therapeutic phlebotomy. This procedure removes a specific amount of blood, usually a pint. The blood is taken in the same way we collect blood during a donation.
Reducing the amount of blood in your system can prevent organ damage and lower the risk of clots. This treatment lowers your stores of iron and thins the blood. Also called controlled bloodletting, it can avoid serious complications.
Blood Banking & Blood Donation
There is an ongoing need for blood donation. You may need blood during a surgery or after an injury or illness. Blood and blood products, like platelets, cannot be manufactured. Donations from healthy people are the only source.
We transfuse more than 15,000 units of blood, platelets and other products a year. We store donated blood and blood products in our blood bank.
