There have been major improvements in microsurgery, anesthesiology and interventional radiology related to surgery on the brain, brain stem, nerves and blood vessels. These advancements help those with cranial base lesions. It also helps those whose hearing or facial function is being monitored during surgery (called intraoperative cranial nerve monitoring).
