Physical Therapy Services
Physical therapy helps you improve movement and function. You may need rehabilitation after an injury, illness or surgery.
At Lahey Clinic, our team of 70 physical therapists (PTs) and physical therapy assistants (PTAs) offers inpatient and outpatient care.

If you need physical therapy, a doctor will refer you. You may need PT after a health event or to manage an ongoing ailment.
Our PTs manage rehabilitation for:

More About Physical Therapy
When you stay in the hospital, our PT team evaluates your physical limitations. We consult with your doctor, occupational therapists (OTs) and other experts. Together, we create the best care plan for you.
You work with a team of highly skilled and diverse inpatient physical therapists. We guide you toward a safe and appropriate release from the hospital.
Your treatment may include:
- Discharge planning.
- Exercise.
- Mobility training (getting in and out of bed, walking on level surfaces, going up and down stairs).
- Osteopathic manipulative medicine.
- Pain management.
- Patient and family education.
- Pulmonary therapy to improve breathing and lung capacity.
You may need outpatient PT to continue your recovery.
Certain conditions improve over time with ongoing therapy. Our outpatient team includes 50 PT specialists at four locations, so there’s sure to be one close to home. Many of our therapists have advanced certifications. Trust that you’re in good hands with Lahey physical therapy teams.
