The Junior Volunteer Program at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, Burlington, is during summer school vacations only and open to high school students who have completed at least 9th grade.
The 2014 Summer Junior Volunteer Program will run from Monday, June 30 through Friday, August 29. It is required that, if accepted junior volunteers commit to at least 6 weeks of the program with no more than two weeks off during this period. It is mandatory that all junior volunteers be available during the first and last week of the program (unless your school commences before Labor Day) and attend a mandatory orientation, Tuesday, June 24th from 3 to 6 pm. Junior volunteers are expected to volunteer for two, four-hour shifts each week, Mondays through Fridays (there are NO weekend/evening volunteer roles). Shifts are mornings (8:30 am – 12:30 pm) or afternoons (12:30pm – 4:30 pm). If you feel that you are able to make this commitment, we will accept calls between 3/1 and 3/10 only on our automated phone line 781-744-3461. This call should be made by the prospective junior volunteer ONLY (not a parent) and can be made at anytime-weekends/nights included.
If placements are available, you will receive a detailed information packet including an application by April 15th. Acceptance is contingent upon completion of all application requirements, your ability to make the commitment (as stated above and in the application packet) and an in-person interview (to be scheduled after receipt of application materials).
Lahey’s Volunteer & Community Services is seeking outgoing, physically active individuals to volunteer in several areas, including the Main Lobby and Ambulatory Surgery Family Waiting Room. If you are interested, please contact us or fill out and submit a volunteer application.
