• Neurourology

Neurourology is the study of how injuries and diseases of the nervous system affect the bladder. Among the advantages of Lahey Hospital & Medical Center’s group practice model is the ability of physicians from multiple subspecialties to work together as a team. In caring for patients with spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, and other neurologic conditions, Continence Center specialists work hand-in-hand with members of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Orthopaedic Surgery in developing the treatment plan. Care of the neurologic patient requires a thorough initial investigation, frequently with upper and lower urinary tract evaluations in addition to periodic assessments to minimize the urologic morbidity often associated with these conditions.
