Lahey Hospital & Medical Center's medical weight loss program offers a physician-monitored weight loss program and bariatric treatment. We treat weight disorders by addressing the associated behaviors and helping our patients to alter those behaviors in order to change their habits, their attitudes and their lives. Our program treats patients who are 18 years or older and have a body mass index, or BMI, of 30 or greater, and have struggled to lose weight on their own using conventional methods such as dieting. Treatment includes a comprehensive diet and nutrition plan, lifestyle and behavioral changes and, in some cases, prescription medications or dietary supplements. Patients work with medical bariatrician Theresa Piotrowski, MD, and with nutritionists and dieticians, psychologists and social workers in order to be provided with the most comprehensive medical weight loss experience possible, giving each patient better odds of a successful and maintainable outcome.
