Our Emergency Department is open for 24-hour care for all medical problems, staffed by full-time emergency medicine physicians and nurses.
Lahey Hospital & Medical Center is a verified Level II Trauma Center according to the American College of Surgeons (ACS). This means that Lahey Hospital & Medical Center has a dedicated team of specially trained doctors, nurses and allied health professionals to care for the most critically injured patients 24 hours a day 7 days a week with a full range of specialists and equipment.
Expert trauma care at Lahey does not stop in our Emergency Department it spans throughout the continuum of the patients stay to discharge. The Trauma Service also provides Injury prevention and outreach to our surrounding communities.
We are excited to announce that in 2017, Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington will open a new world-class Emergency Department and Level II trauma center that will match Lahey’s world-class caliber of care.
The new, expanded facility will feature all private rooms, comfortable waiting areas, an imaging suite for CT scans and x-rays, and much more.
The current space was built to serve 17,000 patients a year, but that number has now grown to more than 40,000. The new facility, four times the size of the existing emergency room, will accommodate 50,000 patient visits a year.
