Ali Moinzadeh, MD, Named Chair of Lahey Hospital & Medical Center Department of Urology

Burlington, MA (March 2, 2017) – Lahey Hospital & Medical Center (LHMC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ali Moinzadeh, MD as Chair of the Department of Urology. Considered a leader in the field of urology and robotics, Dr. Moinzadeh served as the Interim Chair of the department since July 2015.

For the last nine years, Dr. Moinzadeh served as the Chief of Robotic and Laparoscopic Surgery at LHMC. Prior to that, he served in the same capacity at SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse, NY. He is a widely published leader in his field, having authored more than 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 10 book chapters. He sits on the editorial board of the Canadian Journal of Urology and is a reviewer for numerous urologic publications. Additionally, Dr. Moinzadeh is the founder of Urologybook.com, a free website aimed at enhancing resident surgical education.

“I have spent most of my career at Lahey, working with some of the top urologists in the country,” said Dr. Moinzadeh. “It is an honor and a privilege to be named chair of such a prestigious department. We at Lahey look forward to educating our talented group of residents-in-training to serve as the next generation of urologists.”

Dr. Moinzadeh attended the University of Michigan, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. He continued on to medical school at Northwestern University and to general surgical training at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Moinzadeh then completed his urology residency at Lahey Clinic, followed by a two-year fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic that focused on advanced laparoscopic and robotic urologic cancer surgery.

Dr. Moinzadeh serves on the Tufts University Medical School Admissions Committee, is a board member of the Massachusetts Association of Practicing Urologists, and was previously chair of the Lahey Robotic Committee. He has been recognized as a “Top Doc” by numerous organizations, including Boston Magazine in 2016.
