Lahey Clinic and Medical Development Group to Hold Jointly-Sponsored September 19th Forum

Burlington, Mass.—September 13, 2012 – Lahey Clinic and The Medical Development Group announce a jointly sponsored forum on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 entitled “Clinical World Is the Critical Partner for New Products and Technology,” focusing on examples of recent cooperative relationships between Lahey’s Department of Urology, with support from Radiology, and local medical device companies. These examples illustrate how collaboration between local device companies and medical facilities benefit both by expediting research, sparing companies the capital costs of setting up their own labs, while simultaneously giving industry access to the clinical expertise required for the entire process of device development, from feasibility through FDA approval.

Moderator: Peter N. Madras, MD had a 30-year career as a transplant and vascular surgeon and associate professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School before being invited to join the Urology Department at Lahey Clinic eight years ago.
Urology Presenters: John A. Libertino, MD, chairman of the Department of Urology at Lahey Clinic, and professor of Surgery at Tufts University Medical School: “Principles Underlying Successful Industrial-Clinical Relationships.”
