Nursing Student Stipend Program
Through collaboration with Middlesex Community College, Lahey empowers qualified staff members in non-nursing roles to make the transition into professional nursing. The part-time Associate of Science in Nursing degree program is designed to enable Lahey colleagues to balance work, school, finances, and other commitments while in nursing school. Beginning nursing students in this program are able to reduce work hours to accommodate classroom and clinical training schedules. Lahey provides stipends to replace part of the salary lost through reduction of hours. The stipend component addresses two formidable barriers faced by student nurses—the time to devote to their studies and the money to help them meet their financial obligations while they are in school.
Nursing Simulation Training Program
The Center for Simulation Training, Education and Research is Lahey’s commitment to the ongoing training of medical specialists, students, nurses and allied health practitioners, at all levels of expertise, using the latest methods and technology to replicate real-life surgical procedures and patient care situations—with immediate learning results for medical staff and improved safety for patients. Nursing simulation training is a critical component to the success of the Center. Nurses train alongside medical staff, using computer-controlled simulation technology to improve team communication, fine-tune skills and optimize clinical outcomes. New technology requires advanced surgical skills and new approaches to accelerate skill acquisition, cognitive skills and team performance—leading to optimal safety and superior outcomes for patients. The Center for Simulation Training, Education and Research features on-site, state-of-the-art equipment and training by a team of expert clinical educators.
