We are currently offering FREE low-dose CT (LDCT) lung screening to individuals who meet the established high-risk criteria. Call 855.CT.CHEST to find out if you qualify. LDCT lung screening is quick and easy and results in a minimal amount of radiation exposure.
We have been offering free LDCT lung screening, at absolutely no charge to the patient since 2012.
Of the top four deadliest cancers in the U.S. (lung, prostate, breast and colorectal), lung cancer is the only one not subject to routine screening. Based on the findings of the National Lung Screening Trial (NLST), we have proof that LDCT lung screening can save lives of people at high risk for developing lung cancer. If you qualify for a screening, we encourage you to get screened.
You may qualify for a free LDCT lung screening at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center if you meet the high-risk criteria in one of the following recommended categories:
If you meet the criteria call (toll-free) 855.CT.CHEST (855.282.4378) between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, to complete a screening questionnaire.
Qualified candidates schedule their free LDCT screening at our Burlington or Peabody location.
While you do not have to be a Lahey Hospital & Medical Center patient to receive this free screening, you must receive an order for the exam from your primary care physician (regardless of if you are an existing patient or not) before you may participate in this screening.
For over 3 years, the lung screening program has been sharing information with and presenting at other sites to promote safe, effective, and responsible lung screening. In doing so, the program has reached over 600 sites in the US and internationally.
Most private insurers and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) do not currently cover this type of screening, and the majority of hospitals charge a self-pay rate for this exam.
While the LDCT lung screening exam is free, any additional testing or evaluation performed as a result of recommendations arising from the LDCT lung screening exam is not free of charge and will be billed to your insurance in the customary fashion.
A SCREENING DOES NOT OBLIGATE YOU TO RETURN TO LAHEY HOSPITAL & MEDICAL CENTER FOR ANY FURTHER SCREENINGS, FOR FURTHER EVALUATION OF ANY FINDINGS, OR FOR ANY OTHER SERVICES THAT LAHEY HOSPITAL & MEDICAL CENTER PROVIDES.
