The classic sign of sleep apnea is snoring. One way to treat sleep apnea is with a CPAP, which includes a mask you wear at night that delivers extra oxygen. But not everyone can use a CPAP.The plastic and reconstructive surgeons at Lahey Medical Center, Peabody, offer an innovative procedure called maxillomandibular advancement (MMA), an alternative for people who have difficulty with CPAP. The procedure involves moving the upper and lower jaws forward, opening the airway and preventing its collapse during sleep.
