Thoracic (Chest/Lung) Cancer Clinical Research

Lahey doctors at a tumor board meetingIn addition to conducting our own cancer clinical trials and research, the Lahey Health Cancer Institute (LHCI) also provides broad access to thoracic cancer clinical trials in the greater Boston area. This allows you to participate in the latest research without having to journey far from home. Clinical trials at Lahey are regularly updated and can provide the opportunity to receive tomorrow’s treatments today, so please ask your provider about participation.

Participating in a Lung Cancer Clinical Trial

The LHCI is a full member of SWOG, a National Cancer Institute-supported, international clinical trials program. Our physicians work with the Lung Cancer Committee of SWOG to develop the most innovative new treatment approaches to thoracic cancers.

Patients treated at LHCI sites of care have the opportunity to participate in these clinical studies, thereby gaining access to cutting-edge new treatment approaches.

Extensive Clinical Trial Experience

When you participate in a cancer clinical trial, you can be assured that your safety is our primary concern. Our clinical staff has extensive experience in conducting clinical trials, and we are deeply committed to protecting the rights and welfare of our patients.

All research activity at Lahey Health is monitored by the hospital’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) to ensure the safety of study participants. The IRB is composed of Lahey Health colleagues and members of the general public from our community as well.

If you are interested in participating in a thoracic cancer clinical trial, just speak with your doctor or patient navigator.
