There is no cure for these abnormalities. The goal will be to manage symptoms and improve quality of life. How this is done will depend on the abnormality and the problems a person has. For example, structural problems like heart defects may be repaired with surgery.

Young children may benefit from early intervention services. Older children may need special education services. Some adults go on to lead active lives. Some may live with family while others may live on their own.
