Spinal Manipulation

Spinal manipulation is when a provider uses their hands to apply force to spinal joints to ease pain. It is done by chiropractors, osteopaths, and physical therapists. It may be used with massage.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy can ease pain and lower the risk of it in the future. It is the use of exercises to promote strength, flexibility, and range of motion. It may be used with other methods, such as nerve stimulation, braces, or other supportive devices.

Biofeedback

Biofeedback teaches people how to control body functions they normally do not think about. It may help to ease pain. A therapist helps guide the person to relax certain muscles or control breathing. A device shows the body’s response.

Relaxation Methods

Relaxing the muscles can help ease pain and muscle tension. Relaxation techniques may include things like meditation, imagery, and deep breathing. A mental health provider can teach a person how to use these methods.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of talk therapy that is used to help manage pain and stress. A therapist will help a person identify negative thoughts and teach them to unlearn these thought patterns. They will also learn new, helpful habits to manage pain.
