About Our Program
At Lahey Hospital & Medical Center (LHMC), our Advanced Heart Failure team offers patients a multidisciplinary, comprehensive approach to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of amyloidosis.
Amyloidosis is a rare disease where abnormal proteins circulating in the blood can form insoluble fibrils (called amyloid). These proteins can then deposit in tissues and organs, and if untreated, can lead to health problems, including organ damage. At LHMC, we have access to the latest treatments available for amyloidosis, including clinical trials.
Team Approach to Amyloidosis Care
The Lahey Multidisciplinary Amyloidosis Program was formed to facilitate the care of amyloidosis patients using a multidisciplinary approach. As the disease can affect multiple organs, physicians from numerous specialties meet on a regular basis to review amyloidosis cases and decide on the best and most appropriate treatment plan as a group. Patients benefit from a collaborative approach, bringing together experienced providers who give them individualized care. Our multidisciplinary team includes experts in:
