Lahey Primary Care in Burlington

Welcome to the Nancy M. Cammarata Center for General Internal Medicine. After many years of being located within Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, our general internal medicine services are now in a new facility at 67 South Bedford Street in Burlington.

These new offices are designed with your convenience in mind. They feature a radiology suite for x-rays, a phlebotomy station for blood draws, and a pharmacy to help us provide seamless care.

As experts in adult medicine, Lahey primary care providers work together in teams to deliver comprehensive and compassionate health care. Our talented and experienced physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, clinical pharmacists, and support professionals are committed to providing you with truly outstanding care in a comfortable and attentive environment.

If you need to schedule a routine periodic examination, a follow-up visit, same-day appointments for illness or injury, specialty referral requests or prescription renewals, call 781-744-7000 and ask to speak to your primary care physician’s office or the prescription renewal coordinator. A medical secretary will arrange a time for you. To promote continuity of care, these appointments are made whenever possible with your PCP or another member of your health care team.

Appointments for physical exams and return visits are available 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday.

New Primary Care Facility Honors Donor’s Mother

Nancy M. Cammarata Center Opened in August

Lahey Hospital & Medical Center dedicated its new Center for General Internal Medicine this summer in honor of Nancy M. Cammarata. The name honors the late mother of donor Ben Cammarata of Boca Raton, Florida, who supported the new facility with one of the largest gifts ever made to the institution.

The Cammarata Center for General Internal Medicine, which opened August 13, includes 82 exam rooms in 43,000 square feet of space. More than 56 physicians and advanced practitioners will continue seeing 125,000 patients a year in this state-of-the-art center. The space features nature photographs taken and donated by artist Ron Wybranowski of North Andover.

Additionally, the outpatient services center will offer additional services, including radiology, laboratory services and an on-site pharmacy. Patients will also have access to the Lahey Physical Therapy and Dermatology departments, both located in the same building at 67 South Bedford Street in Burlington.

“We are incredibly grateful for this generous donation,” said David Longworth, MD, interim CEO and Chief Medical Officer at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center. “This gift has allowed us to build a state-of-the-art facility, which will enhance the patient experience and allow us to expand access to care to the community.”

Nancy Michelle Cammarata was born in 1914 in New York City to Italian immigrant parents and worked for 50 years as a seamstress in New York’s Garment District.

“I never would have enjoyed business success without her support and encouragement,” said Ben Cammarata, who served on the Lahey Clinic Foundation Board of Trustees from 2000 to 2009. “I’m extremely pleased and so proud to be associated with Lahey and fortunate to contribute in some way.”

Ben Cammarata is the founder and former chairman of The TJX Companies, the leading off-price retailer of apparel and home fashions in the U.S. and around the world. An avid baseball fan, he was a part owner of the Boston Red Sox from 2002 until 2007.
