Healthy Weight Loss

At Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, our goal is to help you lose weight in a healthy, sustainable way. No matter what your weight challenges are, we’ll make weight loss work for you.

Getting to a healthy weight—and staying there—brings benefits to multiple areas of your life. Most people start feeling more positive and confident early in their weight-loss process. As you come closer to your goal weight, you’re likely to have more energy and be more active.

Are You Eligible?

Contact Us

Our medical weight-loss team helps both adults and adolescents. We also welcome parents and children, since eating habits often run in families. To be eligible for our program, you must:

  • Have a BMI on the higher side of normal or above
  • Be age 11 or above
  • Have tried other weight loss methods unsuccessfully
  • Have a referral from your doctor, though this isn’t required

If you’re unsure whether you fit our criteria, give us a call. We’ll work with you to determine your best path to weight loss.

Your Personalized Weight-Loss Plan

We understand that successful weight loss works best with a team approach. Our multidisciplinary team is made up of physicians, nurse practitioners, dieticians, psychologists and others, all located under one roof.

You are always at the center of your team as your plan takes shape. We provide the knowledge and tools you need to lose weight safely. This support includes counseling for good nutrition and behavior change as well as diets designed specifically for you. We may also suggest an FDA-approved weight-loss medication.

If you’re interested in weight-loss surgery, we’ll refer you to our Weight Loss Surgery team who will explain the weight-loss procedure options and determine if you qualify. If you do, we’re here to help you before and after your surgery.

Keeping You Healthy

Being overweight or obese can lead to serious health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and others. Improving your overall health and quality of life are essential parts of your care with us.

At Lahey, you’ll have access to a team of specialists such as endocrinologists, pulmonologists, cardiologists and others.
