Summer Junior Volunteer Program – 2023
Applications for our Summer Junior Volunteer Program are now closed.
Becoming a Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in the 2023 Summer Junior Volunteer Program at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center. This year’s 9-week program runs from June 26 – August 25 and provides a unique volunteer opportunity for students to gain experience working in a hospital environment, explore careers in the medical field, develop important skills for great customer service, and make new friends.
To be eligible to apply, you must be a high school student entering grades 10 through 12 as of September 2023. Group interviews will be granted based on the review of your application and the number of volunteer openings available.
We have very strict mandatory requirements to participate. Before you apply, please seriously consider the time commitment involved and discuss summer plans with your parents/guardians to avoid any conflicts that may interfere with this commitment, e.g. travel, camps, summer classes, sports, pre-season tryouts, drivers education classes, part-time jobs, college tours, dance competitions, etc. All accepted volunteers must commit to the following mandatory requirements. If you are unable to make a full commitment, please do not continue with the application process. No exceptions will be made.
Accepted students must agree to:
- Attend a mandatory orientation on June 21
- Be present for training during the first week of the program (June 26 – June 30)
- Provide copy of COVID-19 vaccination card and booster once eligible
- Provide a complete immunization record form including a negative TB result
- Be available to work two four-hour shifts per week
- Miss no more than four shifts and notify Volunteer Services & Supervisor at least one week in advance of anticipated absence
- Purchase a Junior Volunteer polo shirt costing $12.00
