Applications will be available online for one week only beginning 8:00 am, Monday, February 14 – 5:00 pm, Wednesday, February 16, 2022. Applications received after February 16 will not be considered.

Becoming a Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in the Summer Junior Volunteer Program at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center. To apply, you must be a high school student entering grades 10 through 12 as of September 2022. This nine-week, highly structured program provides a unique volunteer opportunity where students gain experience working in a hospital environment, explore careers in the medical field, develop important skills for great customer service, and make new friends. Before you apply, it is extremely important that you review the mandatory requirements with your parents or guardians to avoid any commitment conflicts. There will be no exceptions. Group interviews will be granted based on the review of your application and the number of available volunteer openings.

Accepted students must agree to:

  • Attend a mandatory orientation prior to the start of the program
  • Be present the first week of the program for training
  • Volunteer for two 4-hour shifts per week
  • Miss no more than 2 scheduled shifts during the program

The application process also includes:

  • Proof of immunization, including Tuberculosis and COVID-19 vaccine
  • Training and orientation

If you are interested in becoming part of our volunteer team, please complete the Junior Volunteer application between 8:00 am, Monday, February 14 and 5:00 pm, Wednesday, February 16, 2022.

Please Note: The last portion of the application requires an essay of 250 words or fewer. Please be prepared to write about someone who inspires you and why.
