Lahey Hospital & Medical Center awarded an ‘A’ for patient safety by The Leapfrog Group
Burlington, MA – For the ninth time in a row, Lahey Hospital & Medical Center (LHMC) has earned an “A” grade for its continued commitment to patient safety in the Fall 2021 Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group. The ratings signify how well hospitals protect patients from preventable harm, including medical errors, injuries and infections within the hospital.
“At Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, we have a deep commitment to upholding the highest standards of patient care,” said Andrew G. Villanueva, MD, chief quality officer, LHMC. “This award is a recognition of the dedication by all our caregivers, and we are honored to again receive an ‘A’ grade from The Leapfrog Group.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades are determined with the guidance of an expert panel using 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data. Grades of A, B, C, D and F are assigned to more than 2,700 U.S. hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
“This achievement is due to the amazing commitment and hard work that the team at LHMC does every day to provide the highest quality of care in the safest environment possible,” said David Longworth, MD, president, LHMC. “In these unprecedented and challenging times in health care, it is truly an honor to receive this ‘A’ grade recognition from The Leapfrog Group for maintaining the highest standards of patient care.”
