November 16, 2022

Burlington, Mass. – Lahey Hospital & Medical Center (LHMC) received an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group for the 11th consecutive time. This national distinction celebrates LHMC’s achievements in protecting hospital patients from preventable harm and errors.

“We are honored to be continually recognized by the Leapfrog Group with the “A” distinction,” said David Longworth, MD, president of LHMC. “This acknowledgement speaks to the deep commitment of our nurses, clinicians and staff to provide exceptional care for our patients each and every day.”

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization with a 10-year history of assigning letter grades to general hospitals throughout the United States, based on a hospital’s ability to prevent medical errors and harm to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Hospital Safety Grade results are based on more than 30 national performance measures and are updated each fall and spring.

“It is LHMC’s mission to deliver the highest level of health care with true compassion,” said Timothy Liesching, MD, chief medical officer at LHMC. “This recognition represents the efforts our care teams and staff do to provide on this promise every day for our patients, families and communities.”

“We strive to ensure that our patients experience the safest possible environment while at LHMC,” said Andrew G. Villanueva, MD, chief quality officer at LHMC. “Organizations like the Leapfrog Group help us continuously raise the bar for exceptional patient outcomes.”
