Lahey Hospital & Medical Center Receives Top Quality and Safety Rating from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
Lahey Earns Five-out-of-Five-Star Designation From CMS
Burlington, MA — Lahey Hospital & Medical Center (LHMC) has received five-out-of-five stars from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in its annual quality and safety assessment. Only 10 percent of the more than 4,600 hospitals that were assessed received five stars as their Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating.
This is the third year in a row that LHMC has received this recognition.
The Overall Hospital Quality Star rating summarizes a variety of measures across five areas of quality into a single star rating for each hospital. The five measure groups include safety, readmission, patient experience, mortality, and timely and effective care.
"We are proud to once again receive the highest ranking from CMS for quality,” said Susan Moffatt-Bruce, MD, PhD, president of LHMC. “This recognition reflects the high-quality care our clinicians provide to all our patients at Lahey.”
This data, found under the CMS Hospital Compare tool, is available for consumers to help them compare performance measure information and make informed decisions about where to go for health care.
