Convalescent Plasma Can Be Used To Treat Hospitalized COVID-19 Patients

Recovered COVID-19 patients produce antibodies that give protection from becoming infected again.  Lahey providers are using the blood collected from recovered COVID-19 patients (convalescent plasma) to treat sick COVID-19 patients.

Lahey Hospital & Medical Center is working in collaboration with local American Red Cross donation centers to support their efforts to collect Convalescent Plasma from recovered COVID-19 patients.

If you are a recovered COVID-19 patient interested in donating your blood you must have had a confirmed COVID-19 positive laboratory test and be completely recovered (no symptoms: coughing, fever or shortness of breath) from the virus.
