Comprehensive, Innovative Breast Care

The Breast Health Centers at Lahey Health provide the compassionate care and support you need, when you need it.

We treat benign breast conditions and all types of breast cancers. Our specially trained doctors and nurses create an evaluation plan based on your medical history and symptoms. Further breast care is customized to your unique needs.

Breast Screening Guidelines

At Lahey Health, we follow the American Cancer Society guidelines for breast health screenings. These include the following recommendations:

  • Start annual mammograms between the ages of 40 and 44 if you choose to.
  • Get an annual mammogram between ages 45 and 54.
  • Get a mammogram every two years after age 55 or continue yearly screenings if you wish.
  • Women with a high lifetime risk for developing breast cancer (above 20 percent) should get a mammogram and breast MRI every year starting at age 30.

Women with a moderate breast cancer lifetime risk between 15 and 20 percent should talk with their doctor about the benefits and limitations of breast MRI screenings.
