The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine was formed in 2015 bringing together the previous Anatomic Pathology and Laboratory Medicine divisions with a mission to not only provide diagnostic testing, but also be a part of the integrated treatment effort. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine provides full anatomic and clinical laboratory services and is accredited by the College of American Pathologists. The laboratory is licensed to provide services under the Medicare program and participates in interstate commerce under a CLIA license issued by the Department of Health and Human Services.

Anatomic Pathology includes twelve board certified pathologist and provides diagnostic and consultative services for the clinical divisions.

Laboratory Medicine serves the diverse and complex needs of physicians and patients from various Lahey Health locations as well as the needs of patients from other regional healthcare providers and community physicians.

Services include the Blood Bank, chemistry, microbiology, hematology, molecular diagnostics, phlebotomy, and specimen collection services & point of care testing, such as urinalysis.
