The Department of Laboratory Medicine at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center (Lahey) provides a full range of laboratory testing and diagnostic services to support patient care across our hospitals, outpatient centers, and physician practices. Our experienced laboratory teams deliver accurate, timely results using advanced testing technology and rigorous quality standards.

Lahey's laboratories provide a full spectrum of testing and diagnostic services to support patient care. Offerings vary by location and may include:
- Blood Bank and transfusion services
- Chemistry and hematology testing

Information for Patients
Whether you’re scheduling a routine blood draw or dropping off a specimen, Lahey’s laboratory team is here to make the process as simple as possible. Find key details below about preparation, scheduling, and drop-off locations.
Please bring a valid photo ID and insurance card to every appointment. Follow any preparation instructions from your provider (for example, fasting before certain tests). Allow time for check-in and specimen collection when you arrive.
Future blood draw appointments can be scheduled by patients through the MyBILH Chart patient portal or directly in Epic by clinic staff.
- Future appointments: Schedule in the patient portal under Tests and Procedures or through your clinic.
- Same-day blood draws: Should be scheduled by your clinic.
- Canceling an appointment: Go to Visits > Upcoming Visits > Cancel Appointment in the patient portal.

Appointments are required for all blood draws:
- Future appointments can be scheduled by the patient in MyBILH Chart patient portal or directly in Epic by clinic staff.
- Same-day blood draws should be scheduled by the clinic.
Laboratory testing and blood bank services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at both Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington and Lahey Medical Center, Peabody. Inpatient blood draw (phlebotomy) services are also available in Burlington 24/7.
For treatment-related blood draws (therapeutic phlebotomy), appointments are required and only available at our Burlington location:
- Monday–Thursday: 8:00 am – 2:30 pm
- Friday: 8:00 am – 11:30 am
To schedule, please call 781-744-2402 (option 2) and leave a message with your name, date of birth, and phone number. A staff member will return your call within two business days.
If your provider has supplied you with a home collection kit, specimens may be dropped off at these laboratory locations during the hours listed below. No appointment is required.
- Burlington (3rd Floor Central): Open 24 hours
- Peabody (2nd Floor): Monday–Friday, 6:30 am – 6:00 pm
- Lexington (3rd Floor): Monday–Friday, 7:30 am – :00 pm
